Meditation Minded

I always try to stay mindful and present. There are so many distractions in my world that sometimes it takes me awhile to fully focus on my meditation.  Even so, I make it a priority to meditate at least once a day, sometimes for as short as 3 minuets  and sometimes as long as a hour. I love meditating and the clarity it brings me but it is something most mornings I have to force myself to do. I wish with everything in me I was one of those people that jumped out of bed right into meditation, but I am not. I have to remind myself why I need to do it, the solace I get from it and the meaningfulness attached to it.

In many ways in my life I feel a bit like a tortured soul that is forever looking for peace. I feel extremely deep, not only my own pain but of those around me. It is rare that I can stay mad or angry at anyone for anything as I will sort out the reasons why a person did something and instead of being mad think of ways to help them.

My focus is usually scrambled as my mind is all over the place. I need help getting into my zone. I always listen to music, usually this meditation music is my first choice to help me center myself. I  put on my diffuser with Frankincense, Palo Santo, Myrrh and Valor. Once I have this in place it is within moments that I am able to focus and elevate.

It is the Olfactory in the brain where smells and sound are processes.  There is real science behind why when you smell something or hear a song certain memories can be triggered.  Young Living oils break through the brain blood barrier into this nerve and it is what helps me focus. Diffusing oils and listen to calming music can help heighten the meditation experience, it does for me.

Days when my meditation is less then five minutes it is because I am going rouge, just me and my yoga mat. The times I took the time to set myself up properly are the days I get the most out of that time.  I hope you have a great meditation today, remember to stay mindful and put aside time just for you.

Why Are YOU Worth It?!?!?!

I feel like this is going to be an ongoing blog post subject for me. It took me so many years to see why I am worth it, 38 years to be exact.  I went through the first 18 years of life being polite and accommodating. At that point I had been physically, mentally, verbally and sexually abused. My father passed away when I was 7 and my childhood died with him.  ( I know .. womp, womp womp)

I moved out of my house in high school and between drinking and depression I passed up a scholarship to the college, which was my first pick.  I went to high school and worked two part time jobs. Coming home from my second job, knowing I have to get up for school to a house full of drunk people had me giving up hard liquor but was still drinking beer because beer isn’t really alcohol.. Right?

Soon I was moving back home and ended up in a horribly abusive relationship that took all my other abuse and rolled it into one person. There was no love just a whole lot of fear. That ended with me having to move out of my house to escape him. My self worth was depleted, more so because of the disappointment and pain I felt I caused to my mom.

I started hanging out with new people, was more aware of my surroundings and was no longer that doe eyed doormat, at least I thought.  I became harder, cursing, still drinking my beers but enjoying life. No one was aware about how much I hated myself, how uncomfortable I was in my own skin, how I wish I could constantly disappear and just how much I wish I didn’t exist.

Lots more happened between then and now but I will fast forward to 5/22/10. My son was born and I was struck with post-partum depression. When Julian was 6 days old I started calling everyone on the list of therapist that the hospital gave out when I was discharged. I felt unworthy of this beautiful baby boy. I felt bad for him, he was stuck with me as a mother. His delivery was a horror show, it was a year before I was able to look at pictures from the hospital.   When he was 11 days old I started seeing a Social Worker and worked through more than I knew was brewing inside of me. She taught me that I need to stay in the “now” of things which helped my anxiety, she was amazing, until she moved from where I was lol. I then started with someone else that she highly recommended and the transition was seamless. It is amazing to see the transformation in myself as well as to have it recognized by someone you truly respect. I am forever grateful for these two women that invested their time, love and compassion in me. I know some will say that they get paid to do that, but this goes beyond that, so beyond.

I found my purpose in these past 5 years. I know my journey and although I am not there yet I love the learning along the way. I am now a Reiki master, oil enthusiast and manifesting mother. I am an amazing mom even on my worst days as there will always be bad days. I start my day with positive affirmations, brushing my teeth in the morning I look in the mirror and first laugh at how crazy my hair looks and then start my positive affirmations. I am beautiful, I am alive, I am going to have a great day”. Making Julian breakfast and getting him ready for school, I tell myself how lucky I am to be home to have this routine with him. As he gets dressed I speak out loud to him about what a great day we are going to have, how lucky we are to have each other and how lucky it is that we have food to eat. I know that we don’t have what other people in this town have but I never want him to feel he is less because of material things. Some days he tells me he doesn’t feel like he wants to have a good day and I tell him it’s not an option.

There are days I am in so much pain that I can’t do much other then go to and from the bus stop, on those days I am thankful that I spent so much money on a good bed. I don’t always believe my affirmations but I always say them anyway. What I don’t believe now, I will in the future. What we feed our mind is what we will become. I remind myself everyday that I love myself, I am worth it, I am enough, I deserve unconditional love.

All this started with me making myself breakfast. Instead of eating whatever is laying around and treating my body like a garbage can I took the time to make myself an amazing meal. I would do it for anyone.. ANYONE else so why not myself? I am as important as anyone else aren’t I?  I am my number 1. As they tell you on the plane, “In case of an emergency take the oxygen thing and put it over your own nose before placing it on someone else”. Okay that is not exactly what they say but you get the gist. If you don’t take care of yourself you won’t be able to take care of anyone else. #youarewothit #youareenough #youareimportant

Manifest 2017 in 17 Seconds

Think —-> Intention —-> Receive —->  Law Of Attraction in action!

Have you heard of the Law Of Attraction? Do you believe that what you tell your mind becomes reality? If so then you are inadvertently practicing the LOA.  Just as quoted by Buddha, “What we think, we become” it is just the same as if someone is verbally abusive towards another, soon that person will believe all that is said about them to be true. Change that negative and replace it with nothing but positive affirmations and wishes spoken in your own voice, wouldn’t that cause the same outcome in a positive manner?

Many say they are their own worst enemy, they sabotage their own path.  If you are incredibly hard on yourself and put yourself down as soon as something goes wrong then you are sabotaging yourself. Or when something goes good you immediately think of something that can go wrong instead of just enjoying it.  If you are quick to come up with reasons as to why someone else is more deserving, qualified, beautiful etc. or deciding that you can’t do something before you’ve even started then again you are sabotaging yourself.  It is easier for most to believe something negative about themselves then it is to believe something positive.

If you are doing this then first thing you need to do is change your point of view of you and retrain your brain to understand how beautiful and worthy you are.  You are deserving of happiness and to enjoy an abundantly full life. In my life I was abused in any way you can think of by many different people. I allowed others to shape my thoughts of myself, I allowed them to take my voice, my self-love and I was the biggest self sabotager I have to date ever known. It took me awhile to understand what I was doing, why I was doing it and to change my way of thinking.

I started with restoring my self-love, it is not easy and you have to allow yourself a slip up here and there. If this is you, you can also start with self love, it is harder to manifest anything if you don’t love yourself enough to feel worthy of receiving it.  Start with daily affirmations, ” I am beautiful, I am worthy, I am enough, I am important, I am smart, I love me” even if this is not how you feel about yourself at that moment, I promise you will eventually. It is okay to love yourself, it is okay to want better for yourself and it is okay to take care of yourself because you are worth it.

Once you are comfortable with that you expand ” I am successful, I attract abundance, I am my own hero, I am in charge of myself”. Your mind as well as the way you think will change and you’ll see changes on who you choose to have around you. Slowly replacing negative noise with positive peace. Your circle will slowly change and you will feel the positive shift in surrounding energy.  You are attracting like-minded people who support and not question what you are trying to do for yourself, the shift is real.

When we set exact intentions that we want manifested it takes 17 seconds for it to be sent out to the universe. Once you set your intentions you should be repeating it every time you think about it, meditate, before sleeping, eating, out loud, in the mirror, in the car or telling it to others that practice the LOA. Keep your intentions clear, they will change and evolve as you practice. Manifesting will become second nature as well as setting your goals. Take time to reevaluate your intentions and allow them to change, let go of what has already come and replace them with current intentions. Sometimes what you have been manifesting is there, but you are not seeing it, take a step back when you reevaluate, it could have come to you in a different way then you expected.  Some use LOA to manifest material things, some like myself use it to enhance our lives making it more abundant in ways other than the car we drive.

Making a vision board is helpful in keeping your intentions in constant view. I set up  Pinterest My Pinterest if you want to see boards, each of my visions is represented and sorted by category. I need things to be organized so I can look through them without feeling overwhelmed. Having them there gives me access wherever I am and helps me stay focused.

Why do some manifestations take longer than others? Most times it depends on the person. Remember your mind and the universe hear both positive and negative, encouraging and discouraging words as well as real wants and real needs. Keeping yourself focused and positive is key to manifesting your intentions. Also as I stated above, sometimes what we are manifesting showed up in a different way then expected.

As well as having the vision boards on-line we also have vision boards and our intentions tacked onto our bedroom door so they are always in sight. Julian and I update, adding and taking away things all the time to go with our intentions. Even if you decide not to make a vision board, write your intentions down on paper so you can keep focus on them.

Don’t give up just because something isn’t coming to you fast enough. You have to trust the universe in that what you are manifesting will come to you at the right time.  Stressing, getting anxious or worrying over the timing can interrupt what you have already set in motion.  Remember to enjoy and have gratitude for what you already have and not to stop life waiting for that one manifestation to come forward. Each day is a beautiful gift that you are worthy of receiving, embrace it, live it and love it. So in 2017, take those 17 seconds to manifest and elevate them into a masterful abundant life that you deserve!!

Balancing Your Chakras With Essential Oils

Chakras are, in very basic terms, 7 energetic centers which our energy flows through. Often when our emotions are out of balance, these centers become blocked which can manifest as illness, aches or pains in the body, so it’s important to know which centers are which and how we can balance them.

The Chakras transmit and receive energy, which is translated into psychic, emotional and physical energy, too much or too little can affect the way you think, act and feel.

When our chakras are out of balance, it can have a profound impact on our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. When they are out of balance/alignment, both our bodies and our lives are likely to be out of balance as well. We may find that we are illness or accident-prone, or that our lives are unhappy, unsatisfying, or chaotic.

First–Earth: The Root or Base Chakra–Red – I Am

The Root Chakra is associated with our survival, security and ability to be grounded. To be in balance one must affirm their right to be here — alive in their body in the present moment. One must also recognize and affirm their right to have a good life

Essential oils: Valor® essential oil, Abundance™ essential oil.  Apply topically to the bottoms of the feet and sacrum.  The root chakra is the first and most important chakra for yoga or any kind of healing work. The key words here are courage, security, safety, grounding, and boundaries.

Second–Water: The Sacral Chakra–Orange – I Feel

The Sacral Chakra is associated with our feelings, creativity, pleasure, emotions and worthiness.  With this chakra we are able to experience the world through our feelings and sensations. The sacral chakra is also associated with beliefs about money, health, worthiness and sexuality. In the sacral chakra, passion fuels creativity, and pleasure fuels sexuality.

Essential oils: Peace & Calming® essential oil, Harmony™ essential oil.  Apply topically below the navel.  The sacral chakra is the center of your creativity, desire, emotion, sexuality, and intuition. This is where you learn how to give and receive pleasure.

Third–Fire: The Solar Plexus Chakra–Yellow – I Do

The Solar Plexus Chakra is our power center, determining our confidence and self-esteem. To be in balance, one must affirm their right of power. Confidence, accomplishment, and assertion are concepts associated with this chakra. One with a balanced Solar Plexus Chakra will know who they are in relationship to the world. They have the inner power and confidence to transfer their dreams into form.

Seventh–Crown: The Crown Chakra–Violet – I Understand

The Crown Chakra is our enlightenment center, associated with divine wisdom, peace and unity consciousness. With a clear and balanced crown chakra, one will experience oneness, peace, understanding and divine acceptance. The crown chakra transcends the ego and separation to ultimately dwell in the understanding of oneness.

Essential oils: Frankincense essential oil, Lavender essential oil.  Apply to the crown of the head. The crown chakra is the center of spirituality, enlightenment, dynamic thought, and energy. The keyword is inspiration. This is the connecting link to your highest and finest self.

 

 

 

 

Are There Bugs in YOUR Food?

Have you ever craved something, bought everything you need to make it just to have it spoiled?

All I wanted was pan fried cauliflower, par boiled cauliflower mixed with panco breadcrumbs, parsley and garlic cooked with olive oil in a pan. It’s one of my favorite side dish that I usually make into my main dish with a salad on the side.

Water is boiling, my panco mixture ready to be applied, I cut open my fresh cauliflower to see the nastiest looking 100 legged bug staring at me. WTF! Screaming mom stabbing a bug in the kitchen!!!! Now what? Do I clean it with my Thieves fruit and veggie cleaner? If I cut into it again are there more? Will I have heart failure if more come out through the crevices? Am I dramatic? Absolutely,  is it really? Absolutely.

I par boiled it whole, cut it up and fed it to my dog which eats a raw food diet.

There should be no surprise that when buying organic vegetables there will be bugs. There’s no pesticides, they are non-GMO so of course bugs will thrive and at times be left behind when it’s packaged. Is this my first time finding a bug, unfortunately no, although this was the first with it being alive. I react the same exact way each time, get ultra grossed out and move on. Those things that can kill the bugs in my opinion are the same that can kill us which is why I opt for organic.

I remember when I was younger we had a garden with radicchio which I hated but my dad and nonno ate with dinner every night. It was cut from the garden and each leaf had to be separated and soaked in the sink for the duration of the day. The theory was that all the dirt would sink and all the bugs would drown off. When a bug survived my nonno would announce he had extra protein with his salad. ::::vomit::::  I’m unable to have that attitude, it’s just too gross for me.

For this meal I opted for frozen veggies, still organic but pre cut and washed lol. I swapped out the cauliflower with broccoli -definitely not as good but it worked. I roasted some butternut squash and mixed it with some pasta. I’m happy with my bug free, non-GMO, pesticide free organic meal. It will be a while before I buy cauliflower again but eventually it be on my plate…bug free.
